Hamlet Act3, Scene1 Soliloquy

I loved English at school. I love the English language. I love reading and I love writing. I love hearing the English language used well – and by that I don’t mean grammatical perfection I mean the way it is able to connect to the spirit in a being and affect it. People make a big deal of Shakespeare as though the brother was the first one to come across using the language in such a way. Whether he is as good as that is for others to come to a conclusion. What I can say is that Kenny Branagh’s portrayal of Hamlet is brilliant and I’d edge this version ahead of Mel Gibson’s effort – just. Sit back and watch this thespian at work on a famous speech. Enjoy.
